All Beautiful Things Have Imperfections: Not Perfect IS Perfect…
“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” ~Ernest Hemingway
I agree with Hemingway, that the world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places.
Like a piece of broken pottery, we are all a little broken, and that’s okay. Oftentimes, we think because we’re broken from having gone through challenges in life we are of lesser value than those whose lives seem to be smooth and effortless, filled with love.
Embracing damage, letting things break so they can come back together again in an incomparable beauty formerly impossible, is what kintsugi has taught me.
All the struggles and loss, trials and tribulations, betrayal and heartbreak that life has thrown my way have only made me stronger. Like some people who take advantage of the challenges to become stronger individuals, I too have embraced my brokenness. I have learned to use pain and shortcomings to mold myself into the perfect, ideal self and to never repeat the same mistakes. I believe it’s the fault lines and cracks that turn porcelain into gold.
