Planning a Wedding vs. Planning a Marriage
More than thirty years in the bridal world, and having personally worked with more than 20,000 brides — from the time I design their dress to the time they walk down the aisle — has revealed to me time and again how most couples are quite savvy about planning their wedding but are pretty clueless about planning a marriage.
Certainly it is exciting as you make plans on where to get married, how many people to invite, what to wear, where to honeymoon etc. But what about after you’ve said, “I Do”? How can you sustain the bond as a couple and make the relationship last?
Tying the knot with someone you love is one of the happiest moments of your life. You have finally met the person of your dreams, your soul mate,who is living a lifestyle that fits right in with the life you visualized for yourself. They have everything you’ve always wanted: killer looks, money, fame, and a wonderful reputation to boot.
When they kneel down on their knees and ask you to marry, of course you accept!
But how much do you know about the person you have promised to spend the rest of your life with? Have you considered all the ups and downs that are part of a life together, the good times and the not-so-good ones, and the other relationships that will be woven into the thread of you as a couple?
