Your Story Becomes Your Life

Today I would like to share with you a subject close to my heart, and one I am sure most of you can relate. It has either happened to you (just as it continues to rear its head in my life), or to those around you, and bears bringing to light.

It is about the story (or several stories) that goes on inside our head — perhaps one that actually happened to us that we only see and judge from our own perspective; perhaps it is the story that got fine tuned from having listened to so many versions from so many people over the years, people who may have meant well, as well as those who took pleasure in spreading lies; and perhaps it is a lie that we have told ourselves so many times that it has now become our truth.

What story are you telling yourself (and others) about yourself and others? Is it a story of blame and shame, a story of entitlement, of regret and redemption, perhaps even of revenge with an “I will show you” attitude that so many still insist on?

Does the story you tell yourself (and others) empower, or disempower you? Is this story a means to financial gain at the expense of another person(s), perhaps even a family member(s) who did the best they could, given their situation and their lot in life?

Yes, we all have a story. I could tell you my story and it would be my truth. But my truth may not be someone…
